Hotel Tips & Safety Advice

  • Store all your items of value in the hotel safe and ensure that you acquire a written inventory of exactly what you have deposited in the hotel safe. Also verify if the hotel's insurance will compensate you if your valuables are stolen.
  • Ensure that your door is always closed and locked when you're in the room.
  • Unexpected deliveries or room service or room repairs should always be verified by calling the Front Desk before anyone enters your room.
  • Ascertain the exact location of all fire exits, elevators and public phones and your proximity to them.
  • First establish who is at your hotel door, before opening your door to let them in.
  • When you leave your room, always leave the television or radio on thereby creating the impression that the room is still occupied.
  • Inform the front desk immediately should you you lose or misplace your room key.
  • Utilise every available device such as the dead bolt, the chain, and the regular door lock to ensure that your room is properly locked before before you go to sleep.
  • As much as possible, avoid riding alone in elevators with strangers. Should you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable with the situation, request an escort from the hotel desk to accompany you when there are more people on the elevator.
