Saefty Tips and Information for Women Travelling Alone

1. Be aware of your surroundings and the people around you.

2. If you are out at night, stay in well-lit areas and among people.

3. Walk close to the kerb and avoid alleys and bushes where attackers may hide.

4. Always walk facing the oncoming traffic.

5. Carry your handbag close to your body and avoid wearing highly visible jewellery.

6. Park your vehicle in well- lit areas.

7. If approached by a stranger when you are in your car, lean on your horn to attract attention or drive away.

8. Have your keys ready when you approach your car and always look inside your car before you get in.

9. If you think that you are being followed, drive to a Police station or a public place.

10. Keep your keys ready when you approach your home and enter immediately.



DATING SAFETY STRATEGIES

1. Date in pairs or group situations until you know someone well.

2. Use your own transportation to and from a date.

3.If you are picked up for a date bring enough money for a taxi home.

4. Know your limits with alcohol

. 5. Know your sexual limits and communicate them clearly and assertively to your date.

6. Trust your gut. If a situation begins to feel uncomfortable or risky, get out of it.

7. Do not be afraid to make a scene in order to get out of a dangerous situation.
